Flynn Coleman is an American activist, author, entrepreneur, international human rights lawyer, professor, social innovator, and public speaker.[1][2][3] She has promoted human rights around the world; working with international corporations, human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the United States federal government. Her writings focus on issues dealing with global citizenship, genocide, human and civil rights, humanitarian issues, innovation and design for social impact, improving access to justice and education, political reconciliation, and war crimes.

Early life[edit]

Coleman grew up in Los Angeles. When she was 13 years old, she lived with a host family in Macerata, Italy while representing the US in soccer.[4] Flynn received her undergraduate degree (BSFS) from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, a JD from UC Berkeley School of Law, and an LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Coleman currently has residence in New York City and Los Angeles. She speaks five languages and has lived in: Cambodia, Chile, England, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Senegal, Switzerland, and the United States of America. She has also visited: Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, and Spain. Coleman is a three-time TEDx speaker[3]

Career[edit]

Her first book is "A Human Algorithm: How Artificial Intelligence Is Redefining Who We Are, which, according to Amazon.com, is "A groundbreaking narrative on the urgency of ethically designed AI and a guidebook to re-imagining life in the era of intelligent technology."

[5][6] published by Counterpoint Press on 01 October 2019. Coleman is founder and CEO of Malena, an international company that empowers woman to create socially conscious fashion clothing that includes accessories such as jewelry and scarves. This provides economic opportunities for local artisans around the world.[7]

Honors[edit]

Flynn is a Henry Luce Scholar; a Technology & Human Rights Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and The Carr Center for Human Rights Policy; a Council on Foreign Relations Stephen M. Kellen Member; and was the 2019 honoree of the NCP Visionary Award.[3]
