Fntastic is a video game company headquartered in Singapore with a culture based on the idea of volunteering. At the moment, the organization works all-remotely with over 100 full-time employees from 7 countries.

History

Fntastic was founded in Yakutsk by the Gotovtsev brothers in 2015. They rented a small room and started working on their first Kickstarter-funded game called The Wild Eight.

The Wild Eight

The Wild Eight is an open-world survival simulation video game with a procedurally-generated world developed by Fntastic and published by HypeTrain Digital for multiple platforms. The players assume the role of survivors who find themselves stranded in the harsh wilderness of Alaska and must work together to stay alive.

An early alpha version was released through Game Jolt on May 23, 2016, and the game was finally released on Steam on October 3, 2019. The Wild Eight can be played in a single-player mode. The game contains a story-driven campaign and quests. Fntastic launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Wild Eight to raise $50,000 and build a community around the game. The project was fully funded with 11 days of the campaign to go. The game narrates the story of a survivor of a plane crash in the middle of the snowy desert, you can choose one of eight protagonists, each of which has a unique set of skills. The gameplay in The Wild Eight is reminiscent of The Long Dark, whose plot likewise begins with a plane crash in the middle of the taiga. The heroes of both games survive on tree bark and rodents, constantly needing resources, warmth, food, and shelter. However, the developer rights were given to the publisher later on.

The Day Before

The Day Before is an upcoming zombie survival MMO that takes place in an post-apocalyptic metropolis. It's a third-person PvE game with PvP elements and gives the player absolute freedom. Players will be thrown into a deadly, post-pandemic America overrun by flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars. In order to survive, players would have to deal will the zombies by using weapons, scavenging for supplies, and taking shelter in abandoned houses and buildings. There is also a possibility to cooperate with other players for better chances of survival, form groups, and build communities. However, they might also have to deal with other survivors competing for valuable resources.

The publisher of The Day Before is Mytona, a global group of companies specializing in video game development and publishing which is based in Singapore.

On January 28, 2021, The Day Before was announced on the official YouTube channel of Fntastic. On February 2, the game was officially announced on the Twitter account of IGN.com.

On April 9, a gameplay trailer for the game was released on the IGN YouTube channel. On October 15, IGN hosted a special event dedicated to The Day Before, where the developers presented new footage of the game, showed the first full trailer, and also announced the release date - June 21, 2022. They also announced that the game is being prepared for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

On January 5, 2022, the first trailer for the game was released.

On May 5, IGN announced a new release date due to porting the game to Unreal Engine 5 - March 1, 2023.

Propnight

Propnight is a survival horror online multiplayer game with Prop Hunt-style mechanics. It was developed using the Unreal Game engine. Propnight held a PC open beta on Steam between October 15 and October 18. The game has been officially released on Steam on December 1, 2021. Propnight is a 4v1 asymmetrical horror game. Four players play as Survivors, with the fifth player playing as the Killer. The Survivors' objective is for at least one Survivor to escape the map. To do so, the Survivors must repair 5 of the 7 machines placed across the map, which in turn opens the map's exit. Survivors can transform into a nearby object in order to evade the killer. The Killer's objective is either to kill all 4 survivors or prevent their escape. To catch a Survivor, the killer must knock them down, then place them on a chair, where they will die if not rescued by another survivor. Each survivor can only be rescued in this way twice; the survivor will die instantly if the survivor is placed on the chair a third time.

On October 25, 2022 the company released Propnight Reborn, a major update with new content. New content includes new game characters, maps, map events, renewed character abilities and perks, an updated game progression, public ranking medals and achievements. The developers have rebalanced the game, made changes to all existing maps, graphics and physics of the game, added effects, redesigned the interface, added destructibility of objects, and corrected some game mechanics.
