Plot[edit]
Ruth Ancaster breaks her engagement to fiancé Edward when she discovers he's been cheating on her. She then marries Edward's friend, Henry. Seeking revenge, Edward offers to withdraw the charges against Henry if Ruth agrees to "pay the price." Later, Edward dies from tuberculosis. When Ruth and Henry's child shows traces of tuberculosis, Henry suspects that the child's biological father was Edward.
