Foye Ikyaator is a Nigeria-American medical doctor and founder of Life Savers 24 Hour Emergency Room (ER).[1] In 2015, she was recognized as the youngest doctor to open a standalone ER in Houston, Texas.[2]

Background[edit]

Born in Ibadan Nigeria; Foye and her family moved to the United States of America when she was only 8 years old. She was introduced early to science by her father who was a veterinarian and research scientist.[3] Foye was interested in becoming a medical doctor and did her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, Athens, were she studied Nutritional Science. She later proceeded to the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine for her medical training. After graduation, she moved to the Emory University were she completed her residency in 2012.[4] Foye is a Medical Director of Life Savers Emergency Room and a board-certified Emergency Physician in Houston, Texas.[5]

Life Savers Emergency Room[edit]

The Life Saver Emergency Room was born with the drive to save life and offer emergency treatment. The ER provide opportunity for sick people to get access to medical treatment and care at a relatively faster time when compared to other hospitals. While the ER is standalone, it also has board certified physicians, nurses, radiologers and medical assistant staffs. During the Hurricane Harvey in 2017, it was recorded that Life Savers ER offered $180,000 in services to the City of Houston.[6]

Aside being recognized as the youngest doctor to open a standalone ER, Foye was listed in Essence Magazine's 'Power 100 List' of influencers for her contributions to Medicine and her creative approach to standalone ER. She has also featured in a number of magazines, including Ebony Magazine and Texas Diversity Magazine.[7]
