Francesco Da Gioz (known as Checco delle Roe; Sedico, October 3, 1896 - Peron, February 17, 1945) was an Italian partisan.
In 1910 he emigrated with his father to Switzerland. He participated in the First World War and subsequently worked in the mines of Raša, in Istria where he organized the Red Guards of the newborn PCd'I and was commander of the Red Guard of the Republic of Labin. Fired in retaliation in 1923, he took refuge in France. He returned ill to Italy in 1933 and devoted himself to the clandestine anti-fascist organization in the Belluno area. After 8 September 1943 he was among the first partisans of the "Luigi Boscarin" / "Tino Ferdiani" partisan nucleus and was appointed secretary of the Communist Federation of Belluno. Arrested by the Germans, he was tortured and then hanged.[1]
The municipality of Sedico named a road in the hamlet of Peron after him.
