Francis Gavin

Francis J. Gavin is an American professor of political science currently serving as the Giovanni Agnelli Distinguished Professor and Director of the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Prior to his tenure at Johns Hopkins SAIS, Gavin served as a Professor of Political Science at MIT from 2014 until 2017. In addition to his teaching duties, he was the Chair in Nuclear Security Policy Studies for MIT. From 2006 until 2014, he taught at the University of Texas, serving as professor of International Affairs.[1] Gavin held additional positions at the University of Texas, including being the director of the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law.[2]

Education

Gavin was educated at the University of Oxford and University of Pennsylvania, where he received both a History degree and Ph.D. in Philosophy.[2]
