Francisco Saia (born Septembre 18, 1998) is an Italian movie and television director and screenwriter.

Career[edit]

After graduating from the Liceo Giuliano Della Rovere Human Sciences in Savona, he began attending the School of Film Art - SDAC in Genoa, graduating in directing and screenwriting. Later he specialized in the Italian National Film School.

In 2017, the FEDIC (Italian Federation of Film Clubs) entrusted him with the direction and script of the short movie "Il lupo di Germania", which will be nominated for the David di Donatello Award [1] [2][3][4]. In May of the same year, "Il lupo di Germania" will receive the Trash Award at the Intercommunal Festival in Brescia [5].

After this movie, Francisco Saia will write, direct and produce the short movie Abraham, which will be moderately successful nationally and internationally. With Abraham, Francisco Saia has won several nominations and awards at some international festivals, including: Savigliano Film Festival 2018, Lift off sessions 2019 (London), First filmmaker sessions 2019, Meet Film Festival 2019 (Rome), "La linterna" 2019 (Genoa), Corti d'amore 2019 (Savona).

Starting in October 2018, Francisco Saia will become the television director of the television production company "MAIA", owned by the record producer Verdiano Vera, and will be in charge of the filming inherent in various events such as Genoa International Boat Show, the Ristorexpo. In September 2019, MAIA also confirmed him as director of the television program Liguria Selection, which will be broadcast on several national television stations (Teleliguria, MusiconTV, 7 Gold).

In 2019, he was confirmed as the screenwriter of the Italian-French television production TV show ( Rai and TeleFrance) "The museum after the bridge" by movie producer LaContessa Film. In December of the same year, Saia received the best screenplay nomination at the Asian Film Festival in Hollywood for the movie "The Competition"[6].

In 2020 he wrote and directed Boccaccio 2020 - Novella Trash, one of the first movies concerning COVID-19[7][8][9]
