On 26th August 2024, a fire broke out in a block of flats in Freshwater Road, Dagenham. 4 people were injured and treated at the scene with a further 2 being taken to hospital.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) first received a call about this fire at 02:44 BST (UTC+1)[1], with the first firefighting crew arriving within five minutes and a second firefighting crew arriving within six minutes.[2] Forty five fire engines and 225 firefighters are reported to be at the scene. A major incident was declared by the LFB.[3]
