Freshworks Inc. is an American cloud-based customer engagement company.[1][2]
History
Freshworks was founded in October 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy.[3] The company headquarters is located in San Bruno, California, with global offices across India, UK, Australia and Germany.[4][5]
Funding
Freshworks has raised funds from Accel, Tiger Global Management, CapitalG and Sequoia Capital India.[6] This was mainly plugged in towards enabling research and development on core product evolution, new product augmentation and marketing campaigns.[7]
Freshworks raised its first round of Series A funding amounting to $1 million from Accel Partners in November 2011.[8]
In April 2012, Tiger Global and Accel Partners invested $5 million in a Series B round, to ramp up engineering talent and to enable global expansion.[8]
In November 2013, $7 million was funded by Accel Partners in a Series C round, to enter the IT service management sector.[8]
In June 2014, Freshworks received $31 million in Series D funding from Tiger Global Management along with Accel Partners and Google Capital, to continue building customer support services.[9]
In November 2016, Freshworks received $55 million in a Series F round, from Sequoia Capital India along with Accel Partners. This enabled expansion across the entire product line, by valuing the company at $700 million.[10][11]
In July 2018, Freshworks secured $100 million in a Series G round from Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners, with participation from CapitalG as well.[12][13]
Acquisitions
Freshworks has acquired 9 companies for undisclosed amounts. They include:
- 2015 - 1CLICK - a video, voice, and text chat platform[14]
- 2015 - Frilp - a social recommendation app[15]
- 2015 - Konotor - a mobile first user engagement platform[16]
- 2016 - Framebench - an online collaboration platform[17]
- 2016 - Airwoot - a customer service solutions platform[18]
- 2016 - Chatimity - a social chat platform[19]
- 2017 - Pipemonk - a data integration startup[20]
- 2017 - Joe Hukum - a chatbot building platform[21]
- 2017 - Zarget - a startup that provides Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) tools for marketers and designers[22]
Products and services
Freshworks offers a range of customer support and sales software.[23][24] Among them include Freshdesk, Freshservice, Freshchat and others.[25][26]
