Friedrich Jahn (physician)
Friedrich Jahn (February 25, 1766 in Meiningen - December 19, 1813) was a German physician.[1]
Biography[edit]
Friedrich Jahn was the son of a pharmacist and studied from 1784 science and medicine at the University of Jena. In 1787 he received his doctorate in Jena. Friedrich Jahn later worked as a general practitioner in Meiningen and as a doctor and bath doctor in Liebenstein. His scientific focus was on practical medicine, obstetrics and paediatrics.
On September 9, 1789 he was awarded the academic nickname Japis III. as a member (Matrikel No. 890) admitted to the Leopoldina.
Friedrich Jahn became the victim of a typhoid epidemic that was rampant in 1813.
