Early life[edit]

Christian Pathak was born in Kusel, Germany. His mother, Maria, was a teacher and his father, Trilochan, was a prominent Obstetrician & Gynecologist in Schweich who opened the first private obstetric and gynecological practice of the city in 1979.[2] His aunt was the famous Berlin senator and women's right lawyer Anne Klein.[3],[4]

Christian Pathak attended highschool at Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium Trier, ultimately graduating with Honors within the top 5 of his class. At age 14, he won an Honors Award in the national computer science competition showing an early affinity to all things IT. Already interested in medicine early on, he worked as a nurses aid during his senior highschool years at Klinikum Mutterhaus der Borromäerinnen, and then, after scoring in the top 2% of the German MCAT exam enrolled at the combined MD/PhD program at University of Mainz, Germany. After also attending the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Michigan Schools of Medicine, he graduated in 1998 ranking #5 of 210 graduating students earning an MD with Honors. He subsequently concluded his research in Pediatric Nephrology & Urology in 1999, defending his doctoral thesis in 2000 and was awarded his PhD with "magna cum laude".

Career[edit]

After serving his internship at the RWTH Aachen University in the Department of Plastic Surgery, he joined the Boston Consulting Group to learn the basics of management in healthcare. After concluding his training with BCG, he moved to the University of Hawaii to engage in specialist training in Pediatrics. Having developed a love for the little patients and a fascination with the field of Pediatrics on the basis of his strong human rights morale instilled by his prominent aunt[5], he then moved around the globe to train at some of the most prestigious Children's hospitals in the world, including the Great Ormond Street Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London, the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children and the Sydney Children's Hospital in Sydney, as well as the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago. He ultimately achieved board certifications and specialist qualifications in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine.

Dr Pathak's emergency and critical care exploits in London have been featured in the BBC television series Children's Emergency and his retrieval work in Australia has been featured in the press in Switzerland[6] and Germany.[7]

In 2018 was welcomed as a Fellow into the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in London, UK for his contributions to the field of Paediatrics.[8]

Since 2019 he has been increasingly active in the field of HealthCare Informatics and AI in Medicine and continues to thrive in these fields besides his clinical practice.[9][10]
