Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo
Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo (nee Bolude) is a Nigerian business woman, philanthropist, educationist, industrialist, and singer.[1][2][3]
She is the managing director/chief executive officer of FunmiAyinke Nigeria Limited,[4] and the founder of Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation.[5]

In 2020, Guardian Newspapers in its end-of-the-year editorial -- The Guardian’s Special Focus on Nigeria’s 100 Most Proactive, Result-Driven CEOs in 2020 -- profiled Funmilayo alongside other Nigerian CEOs, describing her as a "courageous, compassionate, and outstanding professional."[7]
Beneath her youthfulness lies uncommon courage and great success, and despite her self-effacing, humble and modest disposition, her glittering record of achievements in the Engineering Profession in Nigeria has catapulted her to stardom. Since realizing her dream of affecting humanity on a large scale, Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo has never looked back in her quest to better the society, especially, in different areas of Engineering Profession, Philanthropic and Humanitarian Services.[8]
In May 2021, the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) Youth Council (EYC) awarded Funmilayo the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity.[9]
Early life and Education
Funmilayo Mary Ayinke Bolude was born on 27 May, 1983, in Ondo State. Funmi lost her father at a tender age and was subsequently raised by her mother.
She completed her primary and secondary school education at St. Thomasis Primary School, Ikare Akoko; Mount Carmel Secondary School Ikare Akoko; and Omolore Secondary School, Ogbagi Akoko.[10]
In 2008, she graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, after having initially dropped out of medical school on account of lack of finance. Funmilayo, in an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, recalls how the unfortunate incident led to the loss of two academic sessions during her studentship.[11]
In 2019, Funmilayo proceeded to Babcock University, Ilishan, to obtain a Masters in Business Administration, MBA.
Career
Funmilayo started her career in 2010 as a project engineer at Adefum Investment, Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria shortly after completing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme at the Works and Services Department, University of Abeokuta, Ogun State.[12]
In 2014, she moved to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as Head of Mechanical Engineering Unit.
After a career as an employee which lasted for 9 years, Funke resigned to establish an engineering company, FunmiAyinke Nigeria Limited in Abuja.[13]
As CEO and managing director of FunmiAyinka Nigeria Limited, Funmilayo has supervised and executed government facility contracts[14] to include projects in Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta; Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic, Geidam, Yobe; Oyo State College of Science and Technology, Igboora, Oyo; Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Victoria Island, Lagos; University of Lagos, Lagos; University of Calabar, Calabar.

Funmilayo is married to Mufutau Waheed-Adekojo, a professor of Thermofluids and Fluid Mechanics,[20] and they have three sons and one daughter. Funmilayo is a Christian.

Record label
Funmilayo ventured into music in 2020, during the End SARS protest that was observed across states in Nigeria. In September 2021, she launched a record label, FunkeAyinke Records,[21] going on to sign three artistes (Omohsoke, Timsingz, and Conffyghold) on a two year contract.[22][23][24][25][26][27]
