"Future Games" is a song by British-American band Fleetwood Mac from their album of the same name.
Background[edit]
The song was written by Bob Welch while he was living in Paris in 1970, prior to joining Fleetwood Mac the following year. According to Welch, the lyrics were written after spending an evening with friends, discussing the turbulent state of the world and the potential outcome of events happening at the time.[1]
Musically, Future Games reflects the changing stylistic directions of the band following the departure of Jeremy Spencer and the addition of Welch to the group's lineup. It is notable for its incorporation of Jazz elements including the opening two-chord motif and lead guitar licks played by Welch.[2] Additionally, the song is characterised by a slow tempo, rich timbral pallete, long instrumental sections and major/minor key changes that contrast verses, choruses and the coda.
