This led to the beginning of his rap career.

History[edit]

Wings consists of 13 songs, nearly double the amount of songs than his previous album. The lead single, Suicide Note has accumulated 910,000 Spotify streams with the album itself accumulating nearly 2,500,000 Spotify streams. Wings consisted of songs like Jungle (710,000 Spotify streams), Many Men, (130,000 Spotify streams) and many more. He started to do freestyles for his YouTube channel around 2017, whilst also releasing songs like Unofficial. In 2018, he released an EP named Freedom. Hell to Pay garnered almost 1,500,000 Spotify streams with the other four songs getting less than 50,000 Spotify streams. Later that year, he released his third studio album Gawne Mad. Gawne Mad also consisted of the song Hell to Pay along with Jungle. It also included songs like Unofficial, Hercules, and many more. Terminal and Eternal and controversy (2019-2020)[edit]

In 2019, Gawne started consistently releasing more and more singles like Thanos, End Game - a diss track directed towards Nigerian-Canadian-American rapper Dax, Rise featuring Crypt and CHVSE and many more. Rise became one of Gawne's most popular songs accumulating nearly 4 million streams on Spotify as of 2022. At the end of 2019, Gawne teamed up with Crypt, Mac Lethal and Futuristic to create a mumble rapper diss track named Death to Mumble Rap. Death to Mumble Rap exploded, becoming Gawne's most streamed song on Spotify and on YouTube with over 15,000,000 streams combined. However, a couple of years after the release, it sparked major controversy after he posted it on his TikTok. He ended up trending on Twitter, entering number 30 in the Entertainment category of Twitter, but the reason he ended up trending was because so many people decided to send Gawne "death tweets". He addressed the situation on Twitter, and played it off as he normally would. In 2020, he released two albums, Terminal and Eternal. Both albums garnered millions of streams. Terminal earned over 25 million streams with 7 out of the 16 songs accumulating 1 million streams or more. Eternal didn't do as well, only accumulating about 9 million streams on Spotify, but the album consisted of In My Bones, featuring Atlus and Rittz and Diablo. In My Bones accumulated 4 million streams as of 2022, making it one of Gawne's most popular songs. Diablo only accumulated 750,000 streams, but in the middle of Gawne's verse, Gawne would rap 11.2 syllables per second, unofficially breaking Eminem's Godzilla fast rap.

Collaborating with Tech N9ne and first collab album (2021-present)[edit]

In 2021, Gawne started releasing monthly singles. And he changed his studio name to just GAWNE. GAWNE released songs like Till the End, Bully, Bad Dreams and many more. The last song before a brief break was Lies. In November 2021, it was announced on GAWNE's Twitter account that he would be collaborating with Tech N9ne and Atlus to release This Is War. The song was a major success, becoming GAWNE's second-most viewed song on YouTube, and one of his most popular songs on Spotify recently surpassing 4 million stremas. This also ended up with GAWNE and Atlus signing a ten-song deal with Psychtune Records, an independent label associated with Warner Music Group. Over the months until April 2022, GAWNE and Atlus released songs like Under Pressure that got nearly 900,000 streams as of May 2022, Hurt, which has almost 1.5 million streams on Spotify, Better Days and more, all leading up to their collaboration album, Waves. Waves has become one of GAWNE's most successful projects ever, accumulating over 10 million total streams on Spotify in a month. After the album released, GAWNE went back to solo songs with two surprise songs, Hollow and Leave Me Alone. On May 26, GAWNE released his most recent single, Drowning.
