GSFC University is a private university located in Fertilizernagar, Vadodara, Gujarat, India. It was established in 2015 by the GSFC Education Society, an initiative of the Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (GSFC Ltd.).[1]
History
The university was created through the Gujarat Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2014, and began operations in 2015.[2]
Academics
GSFC University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across three main schools
- School of Technology (SoT) – offers B.Tech programs in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (specializations in Data Science, AI/ML, IoT & Automation, Cybersecurity), and Fire & Environment, Health, Safety Engineering. Additional programs include Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety (PGDIS), and Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering.
- School of Science (SoS) – offers B.Sc (Hons), B.Sc., and M.Sc. programs in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Data Science. Doctoral research is offered in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Mathematics.
- School of Management Studies & Liberal Arts (SoM & LA) – offers BBA (General and Business Analytics), B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), MBA, and Ph.D. programs.
Placements
GSFC University reports placement activity across its engineering and management programs. According to university data from 2025, a majority of graduates in disciplines such as Fire & Environment, Health, Safety Engineering and Chemical Engineering secured job offers. Companies that have hired graduates include GSFC Ltd., GNFC, Reliance Industries, Adani Group, TCS, and Siemens.
GUIITAR Council
The GU Incubation Innovation Technology and Applied Research (GUIITAR) Council was established by GSFC University at Vadodara to support innovation and entrepreneurship. It is registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.[3] The council provides resources such as co-working space, laboratories, mentorship, networking, and business support.[4]
FirePlex–Agni Sankul
FirePlex–Agni Sankul is recognized as Gujarat's first modern fire and safety training facility, featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure for both academic and industry training. It was inaugurated in 2023, as reported by the Times of India (Times of India).
Campus
The campus is located in Fertilizernagar, adjacent to GSFC Ltd.’s industrial area. Media reports have noted its laboratory facilities and practical learning orientation.
Research and collaboration
The university maintains over 45 laboratories and has signed memoranda of understanding with companies including GSFC Ltd. and Zeppelin Systems.
Accreditation
GSFC University is recognized by the UGC and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Governance
The institution is governed by a board comprising members from industry and academia. P. K. Taneja serves as president, and G. R. Sinha is the provost.
Philosophy and Emblem
The university's motto, Buddhi Gyanen Shudhayati, means “Intellect is purified by knowledge.” The emblem depicts a banyan tree (symbolizing growth and wisdom) and a rising sun (representing opportunity and vision).
