Gabriel Murray was born in Kilkenny, Ireland. He is a novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. He studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design. He went on to study film direction and screenwriting at Dun Laoghaire College of Art. He studied the history of film with Irish film historian Kevin Rockett at NCAD. He is currently a student at Oxford University studying creative writing, literature, and art history.
Murray founded the Visual Arts Centre and was awarded the Young Ireland Initiative award by the Arts Council/Irish Press and Dublin Corporation. He was also a founding member of the Young Irish Film Makers Workshop (Dublin).
