Galerie Arte is a Senegalese contemporary art gallery, which represents West African artists at its exhibition space in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

History[edit]

Galerie Arte was founded in 1996 by Joëlle le Bussy, in Dakar. Since 2009, the Gallery has a branch in Saint-Louis du Senegal in which it organizes a contemporary art festival Le Fleuve en Couleurs.[1][2]

The gallery exhibits visual artists from throughout Africa and shows furniture and objects made from precious wood of Africa. These works of art are designed by Joëlle le Bussy and manufactured in her Dakar workshop by experienced woodworkers from Casamance. Arte Gallery also selects the most beautiful and original arts & crafts from West Africa, such as jewelry and fabrics, that have been collected during travels in the sub-region.[3][4]
