Gamezy is a fantasy sports platform based out of Bangalore, India. It was launched in June 2018[1] by Gameskraft Private Limited, a company known for its popular card game application Rummy Culture. The app currently offers fantasy cricket and fantasy sports games for various leagues.

Gameskraft Technologies is an Indian online gaming company headquartered in Bangalore, India. The company was founded in 2017 by Prithvi Singh, currently serving as the CTO of Gameskraft. Gameskraft was named as the ‘fastest growing online gaming company in India’[2], with a record 1 million active users registered in a year since its inception in 2017. The company uses KYC mechanisms for its real money game products for the cybersecurity and to tab identity theft.

Gameskraft launched its flagship online real money game RummyCulture in November 2017. RummyCulture offers different variations of Indian 13-card rummy game: Points Rummy, 101 Pool, 201 Pool, and Deals Rummy. RummyCulture reported 1 million active players since its inception on its web-based and app-based platforms. Gameskraft introduced same day cash withdrawal for players on RummyCulture, making it one of the first online real money games in rummy space to do credit the prize money the same day.

In May 2019, the company ventured into the online cricket fantasy market with Gamezy[3]. The aim was to tap into the exponentially growing category of fantasy sports while keeping the focus on the popularity of cricket amongst Indian fans. Fantasy players can participate in Grand Leagues, Mega Leagues, or Head to Head games. The scores of players in fantasy cricket matches on Gamezy are based on the real-time performance of cricket players in upcoming matches.

Products and Services[edit]

Gamezy was launched with Fantasy Cricket in 2019[4]. The clear objective for Gamezy always has been to offer innovative and most engaging features to the fantasy sports enthusiasts. The company boasts of several industries' first and exclusive gameplay modes and variations like 2nd Innings and 5-a-side modes.

At the start of 2020, Gamezy moved on to build a platform for the World’s biggest sport - Football. Fantasy Football was launched on the Gamezy App in February 2020.

Legality[edit]

  • Games of skill are legal, as they are excluded from the ambit of Indian gambling legislations including, the Public Gambling Act of 1867.[5] The Indian Supreme Court in the cases of State of Andhra Pradesh v. K Satyanarayana (AIR 1968 SC 825) and KR Lakshmanan v. State of Tamil Nadu (AIR 1996 SC 1153) has held that a game in which success depends predominantly upon the superior knowledge, training, attention, experience, and adroitness of the player shall be classified as a game of skill.[6]
  • The Contest (s) described above (across the Gamezy Services) are games of skill as the success of Participants depends primarily on their superior knowledge of the games of cricket and/or football and/or basketball and/or hockey and/or kabaddi statistics, knowledge of players' relative form, players' performance in a particular territory, conditions and/or format (such as ODIs, test cricket and Twenty20 in the cricket fantasy game), attention and dedication towards the Contest(s) and adroitness in playing the Contest(s). The Contest(s) also requires Participants to field well-balanced sides with limited resources and make substitutions at appropriate times to gain the maximum points.
  • By participating in this Contest(s), each Participant acknowledges and agrees that he/she is participating in a game of skill.

Branding & Campaigns[edit]

In August 2020, Gamezy signed up K. L. Rahul as their brand ambassador and launched marketing campaigns ahead of IPL 2020. K.L Rahul announced the partnership by posting a short video on his social media profiles.[7] A TVC Campaign #NayeZamaneKaFantasyCricket, featuring K.L. Rahul was launched in September 2020. Also, in September 2020, Havas Media bagged the integrated media duties for Gamezy.[8]
