History[edit]
In May 1998, the Gaming Manufacturers Association (GAMMA)[2] is incorporated as a 501(c6) non-profit mutual benefit corporation. In 2001 the GAMMA board of directors’ votes to expand GAMMA to include operators. Following the vote in February 2001, the articles of the incorporation are amended to change the name of the industry association to the Gaming Standards Association (GSA).
At the gaming industry’s premier event, G2E Las Vegas, the IGSA wins top honors for its G2S Messaging Protocol as "Innovative Product of the Year"[3]
In August 2016, the IGSA signs a partnership agreement with iGaming Academy. iGaming Academy offers online courses covering GSA standards and geared towards the technical gaming professional.
Each year since 2018, the GSA puts on an annual Technology Summit with the goal of educating the gaming industry on specific applicable technologies. GSATS 2018 focused on blockchain technology. GSATS 2019 focused on artificial intelligence.
In 2020, the association changed its formal name to the International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA) in order to reflect the growing number of members in the international arena.
