Ganesh Loke (born 14th May) is an Australian politician, Movie producer, Social Activist, Entrepreneur, Writer, Lyricist and Actor. He contested the 2013 and 2019 Australian Federal election as a United Australia Party candidate from Parramatta (Federal constituency), but lost to MP Julie Owens. [1]
Ganesh has also written & produced Bollywood movies based on social themes such as: 'Sarfaroshi- the war against system' (2014-15). Ganesh wrote & produced an Australian short film - ‘Lets change the world’ (2016) and an Indian (Marathi) movie – ‘Shoor Aamhi Sardaar’ (We are brave soldiers) based on the social issues, which was released in 2017. Ganesh has acted in all his films as well as he wrote and produced it. [2]
In 2018, Australian writer Dominique Mayfair was inspired by Ganesh’s life story and wrote a novel based on it, named as: 'The Pursuit of Dreams'. [3]
Early life
Born on 14th May in Mumbai in Maharashtra, India, Ganesh is one of the three children of Mr. S.G. Loke and Mrs. S. S. Loke. He completed his high school education from a prestigious school in Dadar, Mumbai. Then in 2001 Ganesh completed his Masters of Information Technology degree from Charles Sturt University, Australia, and in 2005 he completed his Education degree from the same university in Australia.
Career
Along with his involvement in Australian politics, he has produced Bollywood movies and also worked as an actor in the Bollywood and Marathi film industry.
In 2014, he played a role in his film Sarfaroshi-a War against system which was moderately successful [4]
Then in 2017 he produced and released the movie Shoor Aamhi Sardaar and played a main lead role in it as Major Ganesh [5]
In 2018, Australian writer Dominique Mayfair wrote a novel based on Ganesh's life story named as: The Pursuit of Dreams.[6]
Politics
In 2013 and 2019, Ganesh Loke contested elections for the Australian Federal election as a candidate for the United Australia Party in the Parramatta constituency in Sydney's west. He has been active as a politician and social activist in Sydney's Parramatta region [7]
He was awarded as a Finalist in 2019 & 2020 'Citizen of the Year Award by Cumberland Council' and 2019 & 2020 'Australia Day Awards by Parramatta Council' in Sydney's west. [8]
He was also chosen as a Finalist - 'Young Community Achiever' at IABC Awards in 2014 and 2015.
