Ganj e Hozour (, lit. "The Treasure of Presence") is a Persian-language spiritual and literary television and radio program produced and presented by Parviz Shahbazi. The programme is dedicated to the line-by-line exegesis of the Masnavi and Divan-e Shams of the 13th-century Persian Sufi poet Rumi (Maulana Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi), and to selected ghazals of Hafez and other classical Persian mystics. It has been broadcast continuously since the mid-2000s from Los Angeles under the auspices of the Treasure of Presence Foundation, Inc., and is distributed worldwide by satellite, internet streaming, podcast and a dedicated mobile application.

Background

The programme was founded by Parviz Shahbazi (Persian: پرویز شهبازی), an Iranian-born engineer based in the Greater Los Angeles area, who has presented every episode since its inception. He is unrelated to the Iranian filmmaker of the same name who lives and works in Tehran. In Persian-language sources, Shahbazi is generally addressed as Mohandes ("engineer") Shahbazi. The non-profit producer of the show, the Treasure of Presence Foundation, Inc., is registered in the United States and states its mission as introducing, deciphering and decoding the works of Rumi for a contemporary audience.

The earliest dated phone interview hosted on the programme, a conversation with the late Iranian self-knowledge writer Mohammad-Ja'far Mossaffa, was recorded in ۱۳۸۵ (Solar Hijri 1385, corresponding to 2006–2007).

Format

Each weekly episode of Ganj-e Hozour typically opens with a غزل (ghazal) or short Masnavi passage selected by Shahbazi, who then proceeds, line-by-line and word-by-word, through a close reading of the verse. Drawing on classical commentaries as well as modern philosophical and psychological vocabulary, Shahbazi expounds Rumi's verse as a practical psychology of "presence" (حضور), in which the listener is invited to disidentify from what he calls the man-e zehni (the "egoic mind") and to recognise an underlying field of awareness identified with life (زندگی) itself. The same poems are revisited across multiple episodes, and longer Masnavi stories are typically broken across consecutive programmes.

A second component of the programme is an extensive call-in segment, archived separately on the programme's website as "phone-message" episodes. In these recordings, listeners from Iran, Europe, North America and the wider Persian-speaking diaspora describe how engagement with Rumi's verse, as interpreted on the show, has affected their personal lives, and put questions to Shahbazi for response in subsequent broadcasts. Episodes are numbered sequentially. By the end of 2025 more than one thousand numbered programmes had been released; the programme's Apple Podcasts feed lists over 1,000 episodes covering the period 2016 to 2025.

Distribution

Ganj-e Hozour has its own dedicated satellite television channel, branded Ganje Hozoor (also rendered Ganj-e Hozour TV), which is carried alongside other Persian-language diaspora channels by aggregators such as Tapesh, Andisheh TV's transponder neighbours and the Parsa TV portal. The channel is also listed by Vipotv and LiveFarsi among the standard set of Persian satellite and IPTV services.

In addition to satellite distribution, full episodes are made available as free streams on the programme's official website and on the Iranian video platform Aparat, where the official Ganje.Hozour channel hosts hundreds of numbered programmes. Audio versions are syndicated as the Ganj e Hozour Programs podcast, which is distributed through Apple Podcasts and Player FM, and a dedicated Ganje Hozour 2 mobile application is available on Google Play, providing access to interpretations, audio recordings and accompanying texts of Rumi's poems. The programme also maintains an Instagram presence with more than 150,000 followers as of 2026.

Publications

Episodes of Ganj-e Hozour have been adapted as a series of English-language books, published from 2018 onwards under the title Ganje Hozour (or Treasure of Presence). By 2020 the series had grown to at least sixty-five volumes, indexed by the corresponding episode number; an aggregate volume titled Treasure of Presence 700 was released in late 2018 to mark the 700th programme.

Reception

In a diaspora writer behind the long-running Zir-e Aseman-e Khoda ("Under God's Sky") site described the programme as a 24-hour Persian channel that "from morning to night either plays traditional Iranian music or interprets the Masnavi and Divan-e Shams", and called it a worthwhile alternative to mainstream diaspora television.
