Gar Oo Noon Ko (born 23 January 1993 in Yangon, Myanmar), pen names Burmese: ဂါဦးႏြန္းကို and Burmese: မိႏြန္းကို(ကြန္ပ်ဴတာတကၠသိုလ္) , is a Burmese writer, well known as a novelist. She loves to learn about supernatural things concerning magic and spirits. Mostly, she wrote romantic, spiritual short stories. Some are inscrutable. They were published in many magazines. Among them, the famous short stories are Sketchy Dream (Burmese: အိပ္မက္ေကာက္ေၾကာင္း) and The Face in the Back-View Mirror (Burmese: ေနာက္ၾကည့္မွန္ထဲကမ်က္ႏွာ).
She is working as a researcher in Burmese_literature, Film criticism, and Youth_culture Reform. Noon writes articles after collecting research; things she thinks the public should know. The best one is The Elective Ghost (Burmese: ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲဝင္တဲ့ တေစ ၦ), a kind of film criticism which refers to a proposal for a national poll.
Personal life
Gar Oo Noon Ko was born 23 January 1993 in Yangon. Her family name is Hnin Pwint Phyu. Her parents are U Khin Mg Aye and Daw Aye Aye Than Shwe. She is the third child, having four siblings. She graduated from Aung San Thuriya Hla Thoung High School in 2009.
Noon started as a novelist, especially writing amazing supernatural short stories. When she had holidays after high school, she tried to write stories. In August 2011, her story, 'The Woman with a Strange Smell' (Burmese: ရနံ႔ထူးေပးသူ), was published in Gan Bi Ya Lawka Magazine (Burmese: ဂမီ ၻရေလာကမဂၢဇင္း). When her first manuscript was published, she was a teenager (18).
Noon likes to create magic or spirit narratives combining tricks or secrets. Most of her stories are supernatural romance, but she said, "I am not a fictional writer. Sometimes, but not always. Believe it or not, most of my stories are real." Otherwise, she is interested in ghosts or other numinous things. Noon is a Buddhist. She tries to share the Dhamma (the teachings of Buddha) using her skillful work, writing.
In 2015, Noon was awarded the Peace Literary Award by PEN Myanmar for her masterpiece short story, The Truth. Now, many stories and articles are published in a lot of magazines and the famous newspaper, The Standard Time Daily.
