The Garut Commuter Line[lower-alpha 1][1] is a local commuter rail service operated by KAI Commuter in West Java. This train service runs from Garut–Bandung–Purwakarta and vice versa. As of 25 March 2022, this route was extended to Garut Station, so the name was changed from Cibatuan Local Train into Garut Cibatuan Local Train.[2]
The Garut Commuter Line crosses rice fields and mountains from Garut to Kiaracondong and from Padalarang to Purwakarta. During its journey, this train passes through several railway bridges, especially the longest active bridge, namely the Cikubang Bridge and the highest bridge in Indonesia, namely the Cisomang Bridge and also a tunnel, namely the Sasaksaat Tunnel. Since 1 April 2022, this service has been managed by KAI Commuter. This aims to streamline KAI's services in the local and commuter train segments.[3] Merak Commuter Line
As of 1 June 2023, the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia through the 2023 Train Travel Chart (Indonesian: Grafik Perjalanan Kereta Api or GAPEKA) renamed this route from Garut Cibatuan Local Train into Garut Commuter Line.[1]
