"Gasoline and Matches" is a song by American country recording artist LeAnn Rimes, that was released as the fourth single from her album Spitfire.[1] It was originally written and recorded by Buddy Miller and Julie Miller from the album Written in Chalk (2009). Rimes recruited Matchbox 20 lead singer Rob Thomas to sing alongside her, as well guitarist Jeff Beck.[2]

Release[edit]

The song began playing on "The Pulse" on Sirius Satellite Radio starting December 23, 2013.[3] The Dave Aude Radio Mix of the song was released on January 10, 2014.[4]

Music video[edit]

The music video is a stop motion clip, featuring scenes of Rimes and Thomas singing while encased in picture frames. The video did not feature Jeff Beck’s face but he is well represented, visually speaking, during his guitar solos.[5] Rimes told The Hollywood Reporter, "My part in it took 20 or 30 minutes at the most. Ian flew to Dublin, where I was on tour, and put two iPhones up and filmed me doing two passes of the song, along with a few odd things like 'Reach for a star' or 'Pretend you're falling.'"" Padgham then shot Thomas in New York City using the same method before putting it all together at his home in San Francisco. "You still get Rob and me," in performance mode, Rimes said, "but I love how he entwined us with the (animated) characters." She added, "If the single clicks somehow with radio, it would be great, but if not, it was totally fun to have a great piece of work in this video we dreamt up and continue to work with really cool people." [6] The video was shot entirely on an iPhone, using stop motion animation.[7] The video was released on December 7, 2013.[8]
