The Gatlinburg Police Department, sometimes referred to as "GPD", is the primary law enforcement organization serving Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the United States. The Department has a staff of 45 officers and 10 support personnel. The department maintains a large force size for a small town primarily due to the large volume of tourists that pass through the area annually.

[[Number Officers Killed 1 [[Patrolman Jerry Dean Huskey [[Gatlinburg Police Department, Tennessee End of Watch Saturday, June 14, 1975 Gatlinburg Police Department, Tennessee [[Patrolman Jerry Huskey was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect on Baskins Creek Road for drug possesion.
After finding drugs in one of the suspects' socks, Patrolman Huskey was searching the suspects' other sock when the suspect snatched the Patrolman's service weapon from the holster. The suspect resisted arrest and shot Patrolman Huskey in the ensuing struggle. The suspect fled the scene, but was run down by a civilian near the scene and arrested by Officer Gordon Whaley.
The 20-year-old suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. He was eventually paroled. [[BIO
