Gautam Dagar (born 8 August 1988) is an Indian former rugby union player who captained the Indian national men's team from 2014 to 2017.[1] He made his debut to Indian rugby team at the 2007 Kandy 7s in Sri Lanka, marking his entry into international rugby. He plays scrum-half or fly half.
Early life and education
Dagar was born on 8 August 1988 in Delhi and grew up Maidan Garhi.[2] He began his interest in rugby at 15 for having fun, after his 10th standard board exams.[1] He attended Acharya Tulsi Rajkiya Sarvodya Vidyalaya for secondary certificate and proceeded to University of Delhi where he obtained Bachelor of Arts. In 2012, he obtained a degree in Bachelors in Physical Education and Sport Science from University of Delhi. In 2014, he was awarded a Masters in Physical Education and Sport Science from the same university.
International career
In 2008, he was among the team that played during the World Cup qualifier in Hong Kong during the 2009 Asia Five Nations in Malaysia. He also participated in Singapore Sevens and Borneo Sevens that same year.
In 2010, Dagar was named as part of the 12 players representing India at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India[2] and the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou.[3]
In 2017, he was part of the squad selected to represent the nation at the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Doha defeating Pakistan 14-12 to secure a 7th place finish.[4][5][6]
He was also selected for the Indian national team XVs tournament side in Asia Rugby Championship Division II held in Chinese Taipei (Taiwan).[2]

Coaching career
He trained Indian National Junior team at the 2016 Asian school games held in Hong Kong. Currently , since 2017 he is coaching Delhi State Junior team.
Personal life
Dagar is married to Neha Pardeshi. They have twin children together.[7]
