Gautam Govinda is a 2002 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Gautam Verma, produced by Salim Khan,[1] starring Mithun Chakraborty, (also known as Disco King, Grand Master) Aditya Pancholi, Rakhi Sawant and Kader Khan.[2][3] This film was also dubbed in Bengali as Ghat Pratighat.
Plot[edit]
Surajiban once owned a piece of land in Dharm Dutt. He has two sons, Gautam and Sagar, who are opposites. Sagar hates Gautam, and thinks that his work is always a failure because of his brother. Surajiban is upset with his younger son Sagar and wants to love his elder son Gautam.
Govinda who resembles Gautam lives with his widowed mother and his girlfriend. Sagar and Govinda meet as he passed through the forest with his girlfriend, who Gautam tries to molest. Govinda gets angry and goes to hit them. When Sagar sees Govinda, he mistakes him for his elder brother Gautam. The next day, Sagar visits Govinda's home and tells that he will kill his brother and replace him with Govinda. The next day Gautam comes to Sagar's house with the documents and while going home Sagar gives his car to his elder brother. Gautam puts a bomb below the car and Gautam gets killed when it explodes. The next day they replace Gautam with Govinda and behaves as him. But his plan gets foiled when Govinda withdraws 4 lakh from Sagar's account.
Sagar and his mother plan to retribute Govinda. She called the police and tells them that someone had killed Gautam and the police had arrested Govinda. Govinda's girlfriend is shocked to hear that Govinda had murdered someone, but he tells her that he could not have killed Gautam. Govinda tells her girlfriend in front of everyone that Govinda and Gautam are one. When he visits the village he discovers that it is troubled because of Sagar and when news of his crimes frightens his father, he gets depressed. Thus (disguised as Govinda), he stays with his mother and convinced her that he is her son. When Sagar plans to kill him before he knows that he has planned to kill him, so when he sits in the car, and he escapes before his car exploded. Sagar thinks that his plan is successful by killing his brother.
When his mother discovers that Gautam and Govinda are one, he tells everything to Sagar. Gautam reported to the police that his father knows everything about his younger brother. Thus, he takes the police to his father but Sagar killed him, and thus the police rearrested Gautam. Police also bring that woman to the station where Gautam leading as Govinda and as her son. Sagar blackmails her to slander to the police. She does that by telling the police that she doesn't know anything. Sagar and his mother kidnap Gautam's girlfriend. When Gautam discovered that, he fought with the police and escaped from jail. He then went to save her and fought with Sagar. Gautam successfully saves his girlfriend and he tries to eliminate his younger brother Sagar but he pleas for forgiveness of his crimes. There, the brothers reunite and live a good life. But police discover that Sagar committed all the crimes so they arrest Sagar for killing his father.
