2014 Annual Report.[1]

Gavagai is a privately-held company based in Stockholm, Sweden, that develops and provides solutions for text analytics, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, and social media monitoring.[2]

History

Gavagai was formed in 2007 by Jussi Karlgren and Magnus Sahlgren as a spin-off from SICS.[3] Much of the company's technology is based on the research done at SICS by the founders on distributional semantics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Services

Gavagai provides the following solutions for text analytics, natural language processing, and social media monitoring in 40 languages:

  • Gavagai Explorer a tool for analyzing unstructured text collections like open-ended survey questions or product reviews.
  • Gavagai Monitor a tool for social media monitoring.
  • Gavagai Lexicon a self-learning lexicon that learns various types of relations between words by simple reading online data.

All services are available through an API.

Notable projects

  • Ground Truth 2.0 is a 3-year EC funded project that is setting up and validating six citizen observatories in real conditions. For the purposes of Ground Truth 2.0, Gavagai Monitor provides a background of implicit measures of attitude to the topics of the Demo Cases.[4]
  • Decoding of dolphin language Gavagai and Sweden's Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) are teaming up to develop an artificial intelligence technology that would make it possible to translate the sounds dolphins make.[5][6]
