Gefilte Drive are a popular International Neo-Klezmer band based in Israel.[1] and partially in Estonia[2], who have achieved fame singing in several languages, most notably mixing older Yiddish[3] songs with other types of more contemporary music of East and West, unifying rock 'n' roll and klezmer, urban romance and lyrical melodies.

The band is also well known for releasing unique videos for their songs[4].

Nominees for the title of “Person of the Year 2019” according to the popular Israeli news site newsru.co.il[5]

History

The group formed in Israel in 2013[6], by Alexander Kotler together with Tal Leshetz, Tatiana Volosova and Mark Umansky. First band stage appearance took place in Judaean Desert together with a well-known Russian band Krematorij.

Musical style and influences

Band's repertoire includes original material in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ukrainian, Russian and English languages together with a variety of well-known Jewish songs (in translation to Hebrew) that have originated in Jewish community in Odessa (Ukraine) over the last century.
