The Genesis brand was officially announced as an independent marque on 4 November 2015, launching their first Genesis standalone model, the Genesis G90, in 2017. A full European launch is expected to be in early 2021.[1]

History[edit]

Genesis Motor Europe GmbH oversees the wholesale sales and marketing of Genesis vehicles and European development and engineering operations.

Albert Biermann, former head of the BMW M performance division, oversees European tuning and performance as executive vice president of performance development and high performance vehicles.

In April 2020, Enrique Lorenzana was named as Head of Sales and Aftersales for Genesis Motor Europe.

In September 2020, Dominique Boesch was named as the new Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe.[2]

Operations[edit]

Genesis Motor Europe Head Office is located in Frankfurt, Germany. It also acts as the nerve centre for all European operations including the principal areas of manufacturing & engineering and marketing & sales activities

In September 2003, Hyundai Motor Group opened its new European headquarters in Rüsselsheim, after an investment worth 50 million euro. This centre is the basis for all European R&D and testing for Genesis.[3]

Future Plans[edit]

Genesis follows an alphanumeric naming convention; car models are named by combining the letter "G" and a number (70, 80, 90, and so on) while crossovers are named by combining the letters "GV" and a number.

There are currently plans to launch a 2021 model of the GV80, a new SUV named the GV70 and shooting-brake version of the G70.[4] [5]
