GenieBelt is a construction management app, which focuses on live-tracking and scheduling of building tasks. The main feature is Gantt chart, which provides a live audit of projects. The platform synchronizes information between mobile and desktop devices over Wi-Fi and cellular networks. It can be used as a project management tool in construction for small and medium-sized businesses.
GenieBelt is a Danish startup, founded in 2013 (by ex-Just Eat CEO Klaus Nyengaard and Gari Nickson).[1] It is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. There are also offices in London, Lodz, and Toronto. Currently, there are around 25 staff members.
Construction is considered one of the less digitized industries[2] in the world; therefore, a number of companies plan to change that, e.g., PlanGrid in the United States. These companies position themselves as part of the evolving "ConTech" (Construction Technology) industry.
GenieBelt is part of the evolving Scandinavian startup scene, which includes companies such as Planday, Momondo, and others.
Fundraising History
Among the investors is Klaus Nyengaard, former CEO of Just Eat. GenieBelt secured $500K in November 2013 and $700K in February 2015 in angel investments.[3] In September 2016, GenieBelt raised $2.2 million from Danish Solar A/S.[4][5]
Software
GenieBelt’s project management app and software include features such as project overviews, a live audit trail, reports, messaging, document-sharing, etc. It is mainly focused, however, on the Gantt chart, where users can observe the live progress of selected projects. Main features are accessible from both the web and mobile platforms, making it particularly easy for contractors, subcontractors, architects, and project managers to use the software both in the field and in the office.
Reception
Top review site Capterra placed GenieBelt among "The Top 8 Free and Open Source Construction Management Software".[6] Software review company FinancesOnline gave GenieBelt two awards: "Rising Star" and "Great User Experience".[7] GenieBelt also received an award from the EkspertValg portal (Denmark).[8]
