Geoflorestas (Portuguese: Geoflorestas) is a Brazilian technical and environmental consultancy, geoprocessing and spatial monitoring company.[1] In addition to monitoring the sugarcane production chain by drones, the company is known in Latin America for the reforestation of forests in degraded green areas of the main Brazilian biomes and helps other companies through the B2B modality, in the traceability of the production chain from the agro-industrial sector to certification and export of commodities to other countries.[2][3][4]
About the company
The firm was founded in 2010 by biologist Leandro Baptista Aranha[5] and has corporate headquarters in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.[6] The company is responsible for guiding other national and international companies to meet the legal and current environmental requirements in accordance with the standards of the country in which a given company is located.[7]
The environmental consultancy firm was responsible for carrying out the geographic mapping by satellite of about 20 million hectares of biomass in farms in Argentina and Brazil, totaling about 100 thousand farms with food production areas.[8]
In 2021, the company was responsible for adopting the Chocoaré-Mato Grosso Extractive Reserve conservation unit (Portuguese: Unidade de Conservação Reserva Extrativista Chocoaré-Mato Grosso), located in the city of Santarém Novo in the state of Pará in the Amazon biome. The adoption of the conservation unit cost a value of R$139 thousand[9]. The firm will be responsible for the conservation of the environment in the region from which it was adopted, following the rules of the Adopt a Park Program (Portuguese: Programa Adote um Parque).[10]
