Georgios Altouvas

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Georgios Altouvas (English: George Altouvas) is the Roman Catholic prelate of Greece. He was born in Athens on 28 September 1973. He carried out his primary and secondary studies in the Patissa quarter, with the Marist Brothers. From 1992 to 1997 he studied for a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology at the Theological Faculty of Apulia, residing in the Pio XI Regional Seminary in Molfetta.

He was ordained a priest on 3 October 1998 for the archdiocese of Athens. From 1997 to 1999 he attended the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality “Teresianum”, where he was awarded a licentiate.

He has held various roles in several parishes, and is a member of the college of consulters, a judge at the ecclesiastical tribunal of Athens and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. Since 2015 he has served as parish priest of the Cathedral of Saint Dionysius in Athens.

The Holy Father has appointed him as metropolitan archbishop of Corfu, Zakynthos and Cefalonia and apostolic administrator of the apostolic vicariate of Thessaloniki in Greece after The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Corfu, Zakynthos and Cefalonia and apostolic administrator ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the apostolic vicariate of Thessaloniki, Greece, presented by his predecessor, Bishop Ioannis Spiteris, O.F.M. Cap.

Aside from Greek, he speaks Italian, English and French.
