History
Gestion Maritime was founded in Monaco in 1976 by Francesco Corrado, the grandson of shipping magnate Andrea Corrado. With roots dating back to 1908, when Andrea Corrado began his first shipping enterprise, the company currently employs over 300 people.
Danilo Carlo Fumarola[1], who joined the company in 2002, took over as CEO from Francesco Corrado in 2010. Giovanni Corrado, son of Francesco Corrado, serves as President of Gestion Maritime Group. Francesco Corrado died in 2013.[2]
Risk and Investment Management
Gestion Maritime Investments manages the non-operational, Financial Risk and Shipping Investments for the group, and is co-owned and managed in partnership with Richard George Stephenson[3], a seasoned investment management, alternative investment and financial risk management professional. Stephenson served as risk and investment advisor to Gestion Maritime from 2013 to 2016, and joined the board in 2016. He serves as non-executive chairman of Gestion Maritime (UK) Limited.
Professor Nikos Nomikos[4] of the Costas Grammenos Centre for Shipping Finance at Cass Business School serves on the risk committee of Gestion Maritime Investments, and contributes meaningfully to internal risk and investment research.
Professor Nomikos is co-author of “Shipping Derivatives and Risk Management”[5], which is recognized as the industry reference text for the risk management of shipping investments.
