Ghulam Sumdany Don (a.k.a. Don Sumdany) is a Bangladeshi corporate trainer,[6] author, educator and entrepreneur.[7] He is a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) trainer[8] and the pioneer of soft skills training programs in Bangladesh.[9] He is founder of Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy[citation needed] and also known as the host of a radio program Look Who's Talking.[10][11] Additionally, he worked as a consultant,[12] researcher,[12] emcee,[1][13] & actor[14] and also received a few awards and recognitions for his works.[citation needed]
Early Life and Education
G. Sumdany Don was born in Azimpur,[5] Dhaka, Bangladesh in June 28, 1985.[citation needed] He graduated in Media Studies and Communications from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in 2008.[15][3][1] He completed a Facilitation and Training Skills program from the Master Trainer Institute (MTI) in France and was also trained by Trini Amador from BHS Consulting in the United States.[16]
Career
Corporate Employee
Don Sumdany began his career as a student at The Daily Star (Bangladesh). After graduating in 2008, he joined Adcomm (Lowe Worldwide) and then Philip Morris International as a regional trainer in 2010.[15][16]
Trainer and Entrepreneur
In March 2013 an anonymous biker gang shot him and robbed his car from Baridhara.[5] The incident caused him to leave his job in 2014 and became passionate in the field of corporate training.[4] He formed a training company Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy in this year.[15][1] He started working for unemployment probem in Bangladesh[1] and became a prominent corporate trainer.[17] His monthly training program involves more than 300 people.[18] He worked for more than 250 organizations,[19] trained a huge number of students[1] and employees of worlds renowned organizations, such as H&M, Marks & Spencer, Grameenphone, Chevron, Perfetti, Holcim, Berger, ACI Limited, BMW, Coca-Cola, Eastern Bank Ltd., Prime Bank Limited, Dhaka Bank, BRAC, WaterAid, Plan International Bangladesh, CARE Bangladesh, Practical Action, JAAGO Foundation, Democracy International etc.[18][4][12][20]
He co-founded an HR outsourcing organization, Ikigai HR services limited in 2020.[12] During the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh, he started a few online training programs and worked for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Bangladesh).[1][21][5]
Educator and Researcher
Don Samdany teaches career-building classes to students at East West University (EWU) and the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) as an adjunct professor.[16] He did research on Communication strategy for Rainwater Harvesting in 2020 and it was published in an international non-governmental organization, WaterAid.[22]
Author
He is one of the author of Bangladeshi magazine Ice Today[23] and english newspapers of Bangladesh, such as The Daily Star[24] & The Indepedent.[25] He also published several books on personal development[26] and business success.[27][28] His written series of pocketbooks were launched as the first overseas book of Bangladesh by a Bangladeshi publisher, BanglaPrakash in August 2016.[29]
Actor and Model
He starred in the film Ant Story (পিঁপড়াবিদ্যা) by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki[30] and also worked as a model for television advertisements.[5]
