Gigasheet is a web-based spreadsheet-like application for analyzing big data sets that exceed the capacity of traditional spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.[1] Large files and data sets can be manipulated, aggregated, queried, and analyzed without the use of code, query languages, or a database. The software has been described as a no-code alternative for big data analysis,[2] and an easy big data tool for non-technical users.[3]

History[edit]

Gigasheet began in 2020 with an emphasis on supporting data analysis for cybersecurity[4], but subsequently expanded to support business analysts in sales operations, digital marketing, and additional industries.

The most recent round of funding for Gigasheet was on June 2, 2022 from a Series A round of venture capital financing. Notable investors include Android co-founder Rich Miner, CrowdStrike co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch, and David Frankel a partner at Founder Collective.[5] [6]

Awards[edit]

In 2022 Gigasheet received a patent for networking data analysis in a visual spreadsheet, which covers converting structured data, namely log files, to a tabular format and inferring the associated data types in each column.[7].

Later in 2022 the Loudoun County Virginia Economic Development Authority and Department of Economic Development awarded the company first place in the Loudoun Innovation Challenge for Information and Communications Innovation technology.[8]

That same year Gigasheet also received a grant from the Virginia Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) supporting a Cyber Acceleration, Translation, and Advanced Prototyping for University Linked Technology (CATAPULT).[9]
