GingerCup is an Indian private advertising and marketing agency which is based in Bangalore, Karnataka. The company was started in 2015 by entrepreneurs, Deepak Bansal and Devleena Neogi. It is registered under Tolu Technologies Private Limited. Their marketing model is based on coffee cup advertising. The client’s marketing message is placed on a paper cup and distributed at offices, colleges, IT parks, tea stalls, railways and airports to garner attention. The agency is known for its work with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Hotstar and Uber.[citation needed]

Founding & History

The agency that would become GingerCup got its start prior to 2015 after Bansal’s subtle observation in his office. He noticed that during tea breaks at offices, one to many discussions take place. Deepak decided to delve into his observation and GingerCup was born.

The concept of branding on paper cups at that time was famous in countries like Australia and The United States.

Services

GingerCup’s service includes marketing and branding on paper cups. The company is known to print QR codes, coupon codes, website details, tickets, and product samples on a paper cup. Once the paper cup is ready, it is distributed at various high-traffic locations to facilitate a call-to-action.

Within the company, there are a number of units that handle different operations.

Marketing & Advertising

The marketing and advertising concept offered by the agency leverages on the fact that India is a tea drinking nation. They use the medium of paper cups effectively during this time to interact and grab the attention of 16 year olds to 60 year olds within 5- 7 minutes. Being a subtle form of advertising, the brand being advertised lands directly into the hands of the target group.

Clients

GingerCup’s clients include Baahubali, BookMyShow, Uber, Hotstar, Clovia, Hoichoi, Chumbak, ABP Live, Gillette, Viacom 18 – Colors, Huawei, Indian Super League - Delhi Dynamos, Pizza Hut, Voler Cars, Brigade Developers, Little App, Flash Door, Pioneer Developers, Rohan Builders, Pride Group, FxKart, NestAway Homes, Pass Pass Pulse, ScripBox, Wooplr, Yumist, Gorb, Exide Live Insurance, Voot, Radio City 91.1 FM, Narayana Health and Poker Ninja.

As of today, the agency has distributed over 35 million branded paper cups across 23 Indian cities.

Awards & Recognition

Prior to starting GingerCup, Bansal worked as a ‘Tech Lead’ at Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore. During his eight-year stint, he was given patents in his name for two Samsung mobile devices. His experience in the field earned him the expert level badge for coding as well.

Notable Campaigns

GingerCup’s notable campaign includes a cup branding campaign executed for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The agency was responsible to distribute a large number of branded paper cups all over India. This pre-release campaign created a lot of buzz and the ticket sales recorded were pulse-raising.

Clovia’s "What's your cup size" campaign run by the same agency also garnered immense praise from the public.

Eco-Friendly

The medium for advertising adopted by the agency reduces the stress on the environment. Contrary to plastic cups, paper cups are an eco-friendly option. It also leaves behind less of a carbon footprint. Advertising on paper cups will also lead to sustainable development for economic and environmental solutions in mass form.
