Gino and Mark Stocco are two fugitives currently on the run across New South Wales and Victoria, Australia.[1] The Stoccos, a father and son from Queensland, are wanted for offences in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales over a period of eight years.[2]

Kiwarrak[edit]

In 2003 Gino Stocco, with the proceeds of his divorce settlement purchased a yacht in Taree, the Kiwarrak. Over a period of three years, the pair sailed along the east coast of Australia. Police alleged that the two had stolen the identities of a number of people, including a soldier and a priest. In December 2006 the boat was raided by police and customs officials at Apollo Bay. Both Gino and Mark Stocco received custodial jail terms for a number of crimes.[3][4]

Manhunt[edit]

On 19 October 2015. the Stoccos shot at New South Wales police near Wagga Wagga, sparking a manhunt.[5] The Stoccos were then sighted at a petrol station on 21 October in a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser. At 1 am the following morning, police spotted the Stoccos travelling at 140 km/h (87 mph) towards Yea, but did not pursue. On the evening of 22 October, the police searched for the Stoccos in bushland near Yea, setting up roadblocks on every road out of the area. However, on 23 October, the Stoccos were sighted 300 km (186 mi) away in Bairnsdale, after eluding the police.
