Girl Meets Dress is a British London based online ecommerce company that provides designer dress rentals.[1] It was founded by Anna Bance, a former PR for French luxury brand Hermès and Xavier de Lecaros-Aquise, [2] who launched the company in January 2009.[3] The business operates online from the headquarters which is based in London, England. In November 2020, Girl Meets Dress worked with around 200 designer brands.

Anna Bance launched Girl Meets Dress in 2009[4] [5] [6]after working as Head of UK PR for French Luxury brand Hermès. [7] A 2013 article in The Guardian with the headline "Spotify for fashion: does renting clothes signal the end for our wardrobes?" Girl Meets Dress is part of a larger space regarded as the Sharing Economy together with other companies like Zipcar, Uber, Spotify and Airbnb.[8][9]

The company received a round of funding from Global Founders Capital.[10]

Girl Meets Dress is one of several companies renting women's clothes; competitors include Rent the Runway (US), YCloset (China), Gwynnie Bee (US), and GlamCorner (AUS)
