History
2009; Early Debut, IC & Aspatria’s Graduation, Member Changes
Girls 96 had a graduation system. One member left or “graduated”, another one came in. The group debuted with 9 members: IC, S.E.A, TAE, Aspatria, Sandra, Kalonji, Kahi, Areum, and Sooyoung.
They officially debuted on April 22, 2009, with the single “Ah”.
Two months after their debut, Aspatria graduated from the group and the company.
In November, it was announced IC also graduated from the group and company with no explanations.
The same month, members Rania and Lizzy were admitted to the group.
In December, they came back with the single “너 때문에” which marks the first release with members Raina & Lizzy.
2010-2011; Comeback, Japanese Debut, Debut Album, Member Changes, First Subunit
In early 2010, they came back with a new single “Oh!”. It was a huge success.
After promotions were over, two new members were admitted to the group. They were Japanese singers Soojin & Soyeon.
In late 2010, Bad Gyal Entertainment announced they were going to debut in Japan with the single “A”. It would be their first maxi single with B sides “Gee” & “Bad Girl”.
August 2010, it was announced members Raina, Lizzy, and Sandra would form a subunit called “Chochochocolate”.
November 1st, 2010, they made their official Japan debut. It was not a big success, so they returned back to Korea in 2011.
After a year of no Korean comeback, they dropped their debut album titled “Run Devil Run”. It was a major success.
At the end of 2011, new member Hyejin was admitted to the group.
2012-2013; Japanese Album, Member Changes, Korean Comeback
In the beginning of 2012, new member Hyuzu was admitted to the group, and Kalonji officially graduated from the group a month later.
They came back with a new single after 9 months titled “Masquerade”. It did very well on the charts.
April 14, 2012, they released their first Japanese album titled “Playgurlz”. It was a very huge success with lead single “Tell Me” & “Rambling Girls”.
The beginning of 2013, Soojin & Soyeon graduated from the group, with two new members Hajun & Junyeon.
In August of 2013, they dropped their Korean comeback song “Flashback”. It was a major success.
After promotions were over, Sooyoung & Areum graduated from the group after contracts expired.
2014; Final Projects, Halting Projects
Bad Gyal Entertainment announced the date for their next Japan comeback. They were scheduled to be promoting in Japan for the whole summer.
They released 4 singles and dropped their 2nd Japan album “Dressed To Kill” with lead single “Gossip Girls”.
At the end of 2014, following TAE’s graduation, Bad Gyal Entertainment announced they were going to halt all group & subunit activities from now on.
They haven’t had a comeback since 2013. Since then, all but 1 member has graduated from the group.
In 2015, member Kahi graduated from the group.
