Giuseppe Alessandro Barone (born 4 September 1998) is an Italian-American professional footballer who plays as a winger for Serie B club Perugia.[1]
Club career[edit]
Youth career[edit]
Barone began his youth career with the Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club in 2001. In 2016, he joined the club's National Premier Soccer League's team. Barone scored his first US Open Cup goal against the professional side, the New York Cosmos. His goal ultimately eliminated them from the competition and saw the amateur Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club advance to the next round.[2]
Long Island University[edit]
In 2016, he began his studies at Long Island University. Barone was awarded an athletic scholarship and played for the University in the Northeast Conference.[3] In November 2018, Barone won the Northeast Conference championship.[4]
New York Cosmos[edit]
He joined the New York Cosmos on 1 April 2019 and signed his first professional contract.[5] Barone's first goal came in May 2019 against Kingston Stockade FC.[6]
AC Perugia[edit]
On 21 January 2020, Barone joined Serie B side Perugia for an undisclosed fee.[7]
