The Gjeravica attack was a military operation during the Kosovo War involving the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and Yugoslav forces in the Gjeravica area of western Kosovo.
Background
The Gjeravica area was important because of its mountainous terrain and location near routes toward the Albanian border. During the war, KLA forces operated in western Kosovo while Yugoslav forces maintained positions in the region.
Attack
In April 1999, KLA units launched an attack against Yugoslav positions around Gjeravica. The operation was led by Agim Ramadani, commander of the KLA's 138th Brigade.
The fighting involved clashes between KLA fighters and Yugoslav Army units. Reports from KLA sources claimed that Yugoslav forces suffered around 40 killed and 20 wounded, while KLA losses remain unclear.
Aftermath
The attack did not result in permanent KLA control of the area. Fighting in western Kosovo continued until the end of the war in June 1999.
