Glenique Frank

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Glenique Frank (born 1968/1969) is a British marathon runner.[1] In 2023, she caused a sports scandal when, being a transgender woman, she ran as a female at the 2023 London Marathon.

Early life

Frank is from Northamptonshire.[2]

London Marathon and controversy

Before her participation at the London Marathon, she had competed at the New York Marathon as a male, under her deadname, according to her, because she was forced to enter the race with the gender and name on her passport.[3] Frank had participated, as a male, in 17 marathons prior to her running at the London Marathon.[4]

At the London Marathon, Frank registered as a woman because the British race's registration rules do not require competitors to register as the gender on their passports. She ran in a field of approximately 20,000 female runners and placed 6,159th, finishing the Marathon in four hours and eleven minutes.[5][6]

In an interview with the New York Post, Frank declared that if they wanted her to return the medal that she earned for finishing the marathon, she would. "If they want me to give my medal back, I'll say no problem. If they really think I've stolen the place of a female runner, I don't mind giving the medal back, because next year, I'll run for charity", Frank observed, adding that "I get it...I'm not a woman. I don't have a womb".[7]
