Phrase «the globe of Ukraine» introduced as a joke before 1990,[1][2] become viral meme in Ukraine and neighbor countries in 1990s, spiked from time-to-time on the Internet and media.[3][4] The means of phrase varry from the discussion context, but a common mean — Ukraine in whole is "Oikoumene", the only continent on the globe (like Pangaea), and there is no "Terra Incognita" outside its edge.[5][6] Phrase often used in Ukrainian scientific literature, public discussions and politican speaches in its metaphoric meaning to mock extrems of Ukrainian Isolationism, Globalism, Patriotism, etc.[7][8][9][10][11][12]
In 1998, Ukrainian scientist Valerii Lysenko[13] created The Globe of Ukraine page on his site 1000years.uazone.net, launched to the 1000th Anniversary of Christianization of Kievan Rus'. The page was commemorated to the problem of availability and access to detailed and historical maps in Ukraine, which in a part was a result of Soviet censorship of cartography materials till the USSR collaps.[14]
In 2017, Ukrainian scientist Mykola Zharkyh, in his historical novel Mythical “battle at the Blue Water”, named the Globe of Ukraine as the «East Slavic oikoumene» (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.).[5]
In 2018, Ukrainian hystorians of the Institute of History of Ukraine published a book the Terra Ukrainica. Historical Atlas of the Ukraine (From the Cimmerian Times to the Present Day), where one of its chapters named «On the edge of Oikoumene» (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist., the phrase introduced in 1949 by Ivan Yefremov in his novel The Land of Foam, aka On the edge of Oikoumene, translated in Ukrainian in 1956[15]).[16][17]
Another mean of the Globe of Ukraine is all the Ukrainians living all around the globe, including citizens of Ukraine and Ukrainian diaspora.[18][19][20][21]
Overseas territories of Ukraine includes territories of all Embassies of Ukraine around the globe (operated permanently or temporary), territory of the Vernadsky Research Base in Antarctica, boards of all sea and ocean ships under the Ukrainian Flag (Flag state, according to Maritime law, including Ukrainian military vessels) and aircrafts operated by Ukrainian Flag carriers (Ukrainian jurisdiction may extends also on boards of commercial international airliners according to Air law).[22]

Quotes
The name of the book the Ukrainian Space (Kyiv: A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ha) highly likely is an anecdotic term like the Globus of Ukraine. Even both words has the same root — postcolonial syndrome — in our book there is nothing anecdotic. Somewere at the half time of reading floated a phrase, that explains its idea : «When there is a talk about Holodomor, Russia says, they has no any deal with it, but when the talk turned out into discussion about the Space, then in this, simply saying, all is only Russian».
— Kostiantyn Rodyk (2009), The Space: books and headliners [in Ukrainian], https://umoloda.kyiv.ua/number/1633/164/57596/
You are not funnied by the beardy anecdote about the Globe of Ukraine anymore? Me too. But simply because its not an anecdote at all. Also, the number of ringed to the sphere the flat areas fragments may estimate infinity. And so, infinity number of the globes out there. Infinity number of various globes. Infinity number of all possible globes.

It seems that some joker gave a globe of Ukraine to director Isaiah Saxon (for whom this film is his debut, and we congratulate him on that!), otherwise where did such "deep knowledge" in geography come from? We, who have lived on this land for several centuries, did not know that the Carpathians are, forgive me, God! - an island in the Black Sea! And this is our shortcoming. In the sense that we remind little of ourselves and our culture. There, in the vast expanses of the great West and all of educated America, we are a blank spot. We are very poorly visible. Well, the task has been understood! Someone may object: but this is not what the film is about. Yeah. But in any case, this is a hint of how they see us there.

In 2025, Ukrainain philologist Vitalii Babenko[132] published a paper[133][134] of his research on language used in TV news show The Globus of Ukraine:
The article is devoted to the analysis of modern mass media myths about the mission of the Ukrainian community in the narratives of diasporic television in Canada. The scientific view is focused on the interpretation of this myth by the program “Globus of Ukraine”, which is broadcast on the TV channel “1+1”. Specific journalistic means of forming a mass media myth are outlined (selection of archival material, editing, author’s commentary with emotionally colored vocabulary and evaluative judgments). The role of the communicative function of television in interaction with myths about diasporic speech, which are formed by the content of “Globus of Ukraine”, is determined (and illustrated with examples). The connection of the vitalistic mass media motif of reproductive reproduction with diaspora strategies for preserving Ukrainian culture and language is established.
