Tim Cheese
Created in early 2025[1], Tim Cheese is a fictional character[2] created by the internet user Choppow, who posted a video containing a backstory of the character Tim Cheese[3], in respect to the fictional pig John Pork, a longtime standing virtual meme featuring a man wearing a pig-mask who had been photoshopped to appear like a phone call. Tim Cheese follows the trend of lore surrounding the story of John Pork. Similarly, the fictional character Tim Cheese is often depicting within a phone call, seemingly calling the viewer.[4][2] More fictional characters have been added into the lore.
Background
Tim Cheese is an extension of the trend to create lore on the topic of random organic and non-organic objects, and because of this, the fictional character Tim Cheese has his own backstory.[2][5][6] The Tim Cheese meme is a continuation of the trend of the creation of internet memes with a popular idol or nonsensical figure depicted within the background whilst a call icon is depicted within the front of the image.[2][4]
Cultural impact
Tim Cheese had a large impact over the 2025 season, with it being one of the first memes of 2025, also being the inspiration for the 2025 Meme Drought trend that followed it[7][8], citing the lack of mainstream and understandable memes during the early months of 2025, as well as being criticized as being lobotomy (used as a slang term for incomprehensible content[9]) and brain rot[3]. The Tim Cheese meme has served as a stepping stone within the phone call trend that has survived for around 5 years[4], having been around since 2019[4] during the era of 3:00 AM trends. The Tim Cheese meme has also risen above the trend of phone calling, now taking the form of its own character,[1][5] showing significance within the online community.
