GoComet (www.gocomet.com) is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company specialising in the automation of international logistics

operations for global supply chains. Headquartered in Singapore[1][2], GoComet offers a cloud based application that helps companies automate freight negotiations, track container shipments/fleet, optimise supply chain co-ordination and reconcile invoices. GoComet serves a broad clientele from Shippers - Manufacturing, Import/Export companies, 3PL and 4PLs, Consultants to Data Aggregators an estimated total clientele of approx. 500 companies globally.

Founded in 2016 by Gautam Prem Jain, Chitransh Sahai [3], Ayush Lodhi, and Mehul Katiyar (Head of Engineering), GoComet is the founders' second successful venture

History:[edit]

In the photograph, from left to right, the individuals are Ayush Lodhi, Gautam Prem Jain, Chitransh Sahai, and Mehul Katiyar.

The founder's journey began with Plat, a real estate agent marketplace in India. Plat aimed to solve for efficient agent lookup - helping home-seekers. This company was later acquired by Housing.com to strengthen it's supply side portfolio in 2015[4]. The founders soon moved on to building their second company called GoComet.

Gautam, Ayush and Chitransh got the idea for GoComet while running a side venture of drop-shipping products online with Amazon FBA. While moving these products from Alibaba to Amazon FBA fulfilment centers, they learned that despite technological progress, logistics operations remained reliant on conventional methods such as emails, phone calls, and spreadsheets.[5] This idea further led to the founding of GoComet

State of Freight Shipping Industry[edit]

Freight Procurement to Payment process

Freight movement within logistics necessitates a series of tasks managed by logistics teams. This intricate process spans various stakeholders, including those involved in factory and warehouse operations, transporters, customs clearance agents, port authorities, terminal operators, shipping carriers, and ultimately the end customer (Consignee).

Regrettably, approximately 80% of the freight management process, from its initiation to completion, is executed manually, leading to inherent inefficiencies which became evident to businesses during Covid-19.

This untapped opportunity, in the logistics space brought about a tech-revolution with industry leaders like SAP, Oracle, and many more leading the way. [6] Covid-19 acted as a catalyst for supply chains to take the digital transformation seriously and paved way for many companies like GoComet, Haven and More.
