Goldridge Primary (or Goldridge) is a co-educational, independent, boarding and day junior school in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe. Opened in 1984, the school is located in Newtown next to Kwekwe Sports Club. [2] The school is run by the Goldridge Schools Board of Governors.
Goldridge Primary is a school where pupils are afforded equal opportunities to develop intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically, thus developing a rounded pupil. The school pursues integration of academic pursuits, a varied multi-cultural enrichment, and a variety of extra-curriculum activities that all aim at helping pupils realise their full potential. The class teacher to pupil ratio of 25 pupils per class affords students a one-on-one interaction with their teacher.
Goldridge Primary is a member of the Association of Trust Schools (ATS), and the Headmistress is a member of the Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ).[3]
Sport
Goldridge Primary offers the following sports: Athletics, Cross Country, Cricket, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming, and Tennis. At Goldridge Primary, each student is supposed to take part in at least one sporting activity each term.
Clubs and Cultural Activities
Goldridge Primary has the following cultural activities: Drama, Debating, Quiz, Public Speaking, Choir, Marimba band.
Goldridge Primary pupils are expected to participate in at least one club activity. The clubs are: Wildlife Club, Public speaking, Marimba Club, Computer Club, Board Games, Drama.
The school is also involved in cultural exchanges on the British Council platform for connecting classrooms.[4]
Academic
The school follows the ZIMSEC [5] curriculum.
Alumni
Alumni who have learned at Goldridge Primary School and Goldridge College are usually referred to as 'Goldridgians'.
