Good AI is an artificial intelligence research and development company that works on the topic of artificial intelligence safety.[1]
Good AI was founded in 2014 with a $10 million personal investment from entrepreneur Marek Rosa. The company is based in Prague, the Czech Republic and its headquarters are in the historical Oranžérie.[2]
General AI Challenge
In February 2017 GoodAI launched the General AI Challenge, pledging $5 million in prize money to tackle crucial research problems in human-level AI development.[3][4] The first round of the General AI Challenge was based around Gradual Learning and ran from February 2017 and the winners were announced in September 2017.
The second round of the General AI Challenge ran from January 2018 to July 2018 and was based around Solving the AI Race. The primary objective was to find a solution or set of solutions for mitigating the risks associated with the AI race.[5]
Badger Architecture
In December 2019 GoodAI announced Badger architecture, an AI architecture bringing together all the previous work of the company. Badger became the unifying framework of GoodAI's research, defined by its key principle of modular life-long learning.[6]
In May 2020 GoodAI ran the first Badger workshop with a number of external collaborators[7] and in July 2020 GoodAI hosted the Workshop on Collective Meta-Learning and the Benefits of Deliberation.[8]
In August 2020 GoodAI hosted the first Meta-Learning & Multi-Agent Learning Workshop addressing open questions in the Badger architecture.[9]
GoodAI Grants
During the Meta-Learning & Multi-Agent Learning Workshop Marek announced the GoodAI Grants initiative, a $300,000 grant fund that will be used to support researchers or research groups working on topics that can build on and improve GoodAI's Badger architecture.[10][11]
