Gourmand Awards in Beijing, China

Founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau,[1] the 'Gourmand World Cookbook Awards' honor the best wine and cookbooks every year.

In 2008, books from 102 countries competed in this free and open event from all over the world. In 2018, over 200 countries participated and over 130 were selected for the "Best of the World" gala event held in Yantai, China, in the last week of may.[2]

On July 1st, 2009, Gourmand gave its awards at the Comédie Française, the famous Molière theater in Paris[3]

[4]

The winners of each country are announced in November and enter the international competition 'Best in the World' , whose winners are known in April-June of the following year at a gala dinner.[5]

History of the Gourmand Ceremonies[edit]

Each year, Gourmand delivers its awards in a gastronomic capital.

« Gourmand has created an immense show with its Award Ceremony: glamour and humor come together with elegance and fun. », Herta Gal, author, Germany.[6]
