Government Senior Secondary School also known as Higher Secondary School is a public senior secondary school situated at Kota road in Bundi city, Rajasthan, India. It is the oldest school of Bundi district that was built during British Raj in India. Study has been going on continuously in this school for 90 years and more than 2 hundred thousand students have studied here.[1]
History[edit]
The Hada Chuahan King Rao Raja Ishwari Singh of princely state Bundi laid the foundation of this school on 6 May 1935. On 21 April 1936, the construction of the school building was completed and it was inaugurated by the Lieutenant Colonel George Drummond Ogilvie, a British Indian Army and Indian Political Service officer.[1]
Architecture[edit]
This Senior Secondary School have a wonderful building, made in the British Architecture style. There are big classroom buildings in the school with large playgrounds for different outdoor games. Many things in this school, including fans, windows and doors are of the British era.[1]
Events[edit]
Many big events are organized in this school from time to time. In 2021, 65th-Softball state level senior secondary / secondary school tournament (for students 17-19 years old) was organized in which students come from all districts of Rajasthan state. It was inaugurated by Rajasthan Sports Minister Ashok Chandna.[2][3]
In 2022, the school students organized a district level rally under the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan (Indian Flag on every home) with the aim of making people aware about the rules of hoisting the tricolor at their homes.[4]
in 2023 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election, the school was made the main center by the Election Commission of India where EVM machines were kept for conducting elections in Bundi district and after the final training, all the election officers left for their respective polling centers with the machines.[5]
